HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Peugeot Talbot Main Dealer, McKinnon Motors of Surrey, this example was registered new on 1st February 1983 and has covered a mere 17,109 miles from new. A new vehicle sales invoice made out to first owner, Mr Elliott, illustrates a purchase price of £3,545. Here began a pampered existence that has led the car to be the outstanding survivor you see today! Exactly a year to the day after first registration, ownership was transferred to Mr Elliott’s wife Gladys who owned the car for a further 28 years! The car was used very sparingly until 2006 when Mrs Elliott ceased driving and the car was retired to the garage. In 2012 the car was purchased by a private collector and club member, Mr Pearson, after the family of the owner offered the car to the Simca Talbot Club wanting it to go to a good home. The Samba joined Mr Pearson’s eclectic fleet of 20 plus cars from the 1970’s and 1980’s, all exceptionally low mileage and all humble everyday classics from yesteryear. A letter in the history file from Mrs Elliott to Mr Pearson thanks him for a surprise parcel she received which turned out to be a calendar of the car that he had had made. Photographs in the history file show Mrs Elliott with the car and even her home in Surrey with the garage it was kept in. Upon purchasing the vehicle, the previous owner sent the car for extensive recommissioning work to ensure optimum running with supporting invoice for £598.27 and at which point the mileage was 16,826 miles. The most recent service carried out was in July 2022 at 17,109 miles.
The vehicle book packs, guides and dealership sales literature are all present in the plastic wallet along with the service record and Talbot CertiCarte card. Every MOT certificate carried on the car dating back to the very first in 1986 further verifies the mileage and both sets of keys are present. A display board of every tax disc is also included!
